We are expanding our Onboarding Department, and seeking a Client Onboarding Specialist who will be the trusted partner to new clients during their onboarding phase at airCFO.
The Onboarding Specialist plays an essential role in our onboarding team, which helps get clients onboarded and transitioned to their team seamlessly. As part of the onboarding team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial deliveries during the onboarding process. Our onboarding team operates in a flexible capacity and has a “project-based” workflow.
This role will report into the Client Onboarding Lead and work closely with:
- The broader Onboarding Team for knowledge sharing and support
- Advisory Managers and Senior Accountants when transitioning clients out of onboarding
This role will start with an emphasis on execution & professional development, then gradually increase their imprint on team management and the strategic direction of the business.
- 🤝🏼 Client Onboarding
- Set up accounting systems for new airCFO clients, ensuring a smooth transition to airCFO and build out of their back-office needs
- Clean up historical books and create adjustment entries to establish accurate financial baselines
- Build reconciliation schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other key balance sheet items
- Analyze P&L statements to identify trends and help founders understand their burn rate
- Conduct virtual onboarding calls with founders to understand their unique needs and establish trust
- Manage asynchronous client communication via Slack and email within 24-hour SLA
- Identify opportunities to help clients level up their back-office and airCFO services

- Prepare and manage tax filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, 3921s, state filings).
- Support clients with audit preparations, working closely with auditors and tax advisors.

- Prioritize internal workflows (client administration, resource management, and accurate time tracking).
- Ensure operational efficiency and support client margin expectations.
- Additionally support the broader onboarding team during high-demand periods
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance the Launchpad client experience
- Develop skills that position you for future manager-level opportunities

🔭 Explore this opportunity if…
⭐ You’ve had the following experiences in your career
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience required
- CPA certification required
- Proficiency in GAAP and accrual accounting
- 4+ years of experience managing a diverse portfolio of U.S. based clients, overseeing bookkeeping and month-end close processes
- Proven client-facing experience with U.S. clients, with a preference for experience working with high-tech startups (e.g., SaaS, eCommerce)
- Expertise in QBO/Xero and familiarity with small business tools like Bill.com, Gusto, Rippling, Ramp, and more
- Strong project management and client relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Experience in maintaining standardized processes and identifying opportunities for streamlining client deliverables
